Happy Holidays everyone! My name is Drew Korfe, and one of my many responsibilities as a member of the Organized Play team is to coordinate and execute our many awesome hobby store programs for the Americas. Every year, we team up with hobby stores and volunteers to deliver some of the very best local tournament play directly to your local hobby store all year round. The crème de la crème of our local offerings comes in the form of our annual Realm Qualifier Season.

For those of you just tuning in, the Realm Qualifier Season is an annual worldwide tournament series held at your local hobby stores. Players participate in a series of regional qualifiers, beginning in January and running through the end of April, to secure enough Realm Points that will qualify them to compete in a two day Realm Championship tournament held globally on April 28th and 29th. The winner of this event will be crowned Realm Champion, a title which allows them to reign supreme over their Realm for the remainder of the 2012 season (and comes with sweet VIP benefits all year long)! But wait, there’s more! Both the Realm Qualifiers and Realm Championships come packed with exclusive prizes for every participant like the 2012 Murloc Hunter and Ogre Death Knight Deckboxes.

For the Realm veterans out there we have made a couple of changes to our Realm Qualifier Season this year that you all should be aware of:

-          First and most exciting for us is the addition of a brand new Realm – Kezan. For the first time ever the brave heroes of Japan will have the opportunity to battle it out on their home turf to claim the title of Kezan Realm Champion!

-          We have changed the format for the Realm Championship Finals to be a Top 16 single-elimination bracket.

-          Judges will earn three points per event.

-          After much feedback, we have reattached Northern California with the rest of the state as part of the Tanaris Realm.

-          Finally, we heard you guys like extended art cards, so we’re hitting you with a double whammy right out of the gate. The 1st Place player at each Realm Qualifier will receive an extended alternate art Deathwing the Destroyer card and the Top 16 players at each Realm Championship will receive extended alternate art Ysera the Dreamer cards.

On your road to becoming Realm Champion you will be tested in both Constructed and Sealed formats. So crack some packs and sleeve up your decks heroes, the battle calls!
